Users are debating solutions and locations, with some disagreements and banter happening. There is a suggestion to ignore Josh's theories, as some users find them lacking credibility. The conversation also touches on the longevity of the hunt, with some suggesting the casque may be gone or in an unexpected location. AlaskaCasqueFinder seeks advice and shares thoughts on the puzzle. Some users emphasize the importance of physically digging up the casque to validate solutions, while others debate whether excavation is necessary. The discussion also includes references to past explorers, potential clues related to historical figures, and the risks and complexities of treasure hunting. Overall, there are differing opinions on solutions, respect among users, and the complexity of the puzzle.

gManTexas

You have basically outlined what is already on the wiki page.

borntalent

The amount of construction lately in that spot would mean that the bulldozers/digging trucks would have easily dug out the treasure and dumped it somewhere.

borntalent

yes... when I found this solution a while back, the first 4 things I noticed (which I think most people took the wrong way as other clues).. 1. The clock face on the school. 2. There used to be a "V" shape walkway in the park across the street. 3. The slender path = Narrows Ave 4. The square that everyone think is either a "Twin Tower" OR "Ellis island dock", is actually the front walkway of the school. There are other visuals that point here as well... problem is the construction thats been there for a while.

Way off the mark, while using that pathetic Wiki theory that goes no where. I think between your google maps and your wiki knowledge, you are lost and probably need to go back to square one and actually think of your own theories an not trying to confirm someone else's failed one. Logic alone should tell you that is not the spot. instead of looking in a major park, you looked at a patch of land in front of his old High school, which he specifically said it would not be around any property that was personal to any of the people who contributed to the book. Try thinking outside the box and possibly have an original thought. The more you know...

On q4t a solution isn't valid or complete unless the casque is found - otherwise we would have "awarded" wilhouse the houston solve long ago That being said, did you talk to any of the people who explored this area in depth 7 or so years ago? They might have valuable input on thing you have missed because of access/construction.

NYCNative

Unknown: The following places do not hold any treasure: (a) any life-threatening location, such as a dangerous highway embankment, a contaminated area or active railway track (b) any cemetery (c) any public or private flower bed (d) any property owned by the contributors to the book, their families or friends What the book says is:

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: d) any property owned by the contributors of the book, their families or friends. As much as anything else, I think this clause was meant to discourage searchers from bothering people close to Preiss for inside information, and/or digging on their private property. I don't think it necessarily rules out Fort Hamilton High School or the surrounding area.

NYCNative

Well good luck with the site!

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: Well good luck with the site! Oh, I don't think it's there either. I'm just pointing out that there is nothing in the rules that says it can't be.

It would probably be best to just go radio silence on Josh and ignore him. He will eventually just stop and go away.

rolenrock

we all wish it were that easy. 35 years later and active, experienced hunters have still not found it. It is either gone, or it is somewhere noone has thought of. There are a ton of theories... but nothing is solved unless a Casque is recovered.... period.

AlaskaCasqueFinder

Hello , can you post your solve? Did you find the casque? Just trying to get ideas that may help with what I'm Thinking for San Francisco. Thanks, Adam

AlaskaCasqueFinder wrote:: Hello , can you post your solve? Did you find the casque? Just trying to get ideas that may help with what I'm Thinking for San Francisco. Thanks, Adam The end point of Josh's 'solution' is virtually the same as White Rabbit's, but for different reasons: Across the street from Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn...where construction has been going on for a while.

Mister EZ wrote:: The end point of Josh's 'solution' is virtually the same as White Rabbit's, but for different reasons: Across the street from Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn...where construction has been going on for a while. Except White Rabbit actually had a logical progression to get there.

maltedfalcon wrote:: Except White Rabbit actually had a logical progression to get there. Yup....and, was (is) open to alternatives.

AlaskaCasqueFinder

Thanks for the tip. My question for the day is regarding the good-hearted (hopefully) banter between you guys who've done this for a while. Do you ever go to dig sites together to bounce ideas and test theories? You do respect each other, right? I'm new to this puzzle and social media in general. If I step on toes, let me apologize in advance and assure you that no malice is intended. Oh, I guess I actually have a second question: Verse 5 Two Twenty Two - How can this NOT mean Ansel Adams Birthday? Have an excellent day! Adam

maltedfalcon

AlaskaCasqueFinder wrote:: Verse 5 Two Twenty Two - How can this NOT mean Ansel Adams Birthday? Have an excellent day! Adam Hey Adam Well first it has the word "Lane" in front of it. 2nd in 1979-1980s time frame Ansel Adams was big, also still alive and still publishing books. So the question is would a publisher use a living author/photographer/ client of a different publishing house as a clue in a proprietary hunt. honestly probably not. Also Adam's biography had not been published yet, (no internet) most people would have no clue when his birthday was or why they should even care... Remember to stop looking at the clues with a eye from today, and put your self back to the 1980s

AlaskaCasqueFinder

Well hello. Great to hear from you. I wish I could put myself back in the eighties ..... no cell phone leash or answering machines. It would also be nice to buy something at a store, use cash and the clerk not ask to "borrow a couple fingers or calculator " to figure change. Ahhh, the good ol' days. Anyhow, you're probably right about the Ansel Adam's Birthday clue. I'll focus on a combination that has something to do with Chinese, maybe the calendar or significant Chinese something, anything with those numbers. I have also shifted away from Lane meaning Lover's Lane and am somewhat convinced it's a shipping lane, trail immigrants used or Mississippi River. And I have been checking out previous posts. Lots of possibilities. Have an excellent Day! Adam

JoshCornell

my progression wasnt logical? get outta here. my solution for this is beyond perfect.

AlaskaCasqueFinder

Beyond perfect? I'm unsure what you mean. Was it perfect and you continued to a place that it became imperfect? Please go back to the perfect spot and dig it up. Then send me pictures so I can see what the casque looks like. Have an excellent day! Adam

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: my solution for this is beyond perfect Said everybody who has ever dug a hole. What matters is what you say after you come up empty. There are four choices if you conclude that the casque is still retrievable: 1) I'm digging in the wrong spot. 2) I'm digging in the wrong Treasure Ground. 3) I'm digging in the wrong Park. 4) I'm digging in the wrong City. If, on the other hand, you conclude that the casque is no longer retrievable, then there really is only one choice.

jayheedan1

Or 5) it’s already been dug up

Yup, that's spot on, Adam....I'm with ya. The '70's would work for me too...

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: 5) it’s already been dug up A casque that has been dug up is by definition, no longer retrievable. At least not in its original location.

jayheedan1

Erpobdelliforme wrote:: A casque that has been dug up is by definition, no longer retrievable. At least not in its original location. True I see your point. Too bad Priess thought to bury them. Even if I knew the exact location I don’t think I would go to a public park and just start digging. Too many laws and I’d probably hit a water main or power line with my luck.

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: Says the guy who trolled here for weeks Troll-like is a more apt description of your posts on this forum than Josh's. While most of what Josh posts is redundant nonsense that only makes sense to him, there are elements of his methods that actually ring true if you take the time to understand where he is coming from. You, on the other hand, in post after post after post, add next to nothing to the forum in general, and to the puzzle specifically. Seriously GG, why are you here? Surely you have better things to do with your time than troll Josh.

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: Too bad Priess thought to bury them. Burying them, and then having someone else dig them up, was just about the only way he could guarantee the integrity of the puzzle. But I really don't think he intended to have people digging random holes. That is, until he no longer cared whether the casques were recovered and the jewels were claimed.

JoshCornell

well, i def didnt dig deep enough here. so i shall return and finish it off. plus, whereas the final location was correct...i didnt have all the clues right, now i do

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: i didnt have all the clues right, now i do Only one way to know for sure. Here's hoping the dig is successful.

JoshCornell

seeing as the location didnt change im not sure digging it up would corroborate that or not lol...ive gotten a better idea how the puzzles work overall since then...so ive been making huge progress...whereas i was possibly right in st augustine the whole time...we have got that puzzle down right to the very end now. all clues have been accounted for up to last one and actual dig spot lol lol

maltedfalcon

JoshCornell wrote:: seeing as the location didnt change im not sure digging it up would corroborate that or not lol Did you just say, your "solution" is so good you don't need to dig up the casque?

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: Did you just say, your "solution" is so good you don't need to dig up the casque? I'll let Josh speak for himself, preferably after he has fully explored his dig spot. But should be come up empty, he would not be the first to conclude that 36 years later, the solve is correct and the casque is destroyed beyond recognition or gone altogether. Wasn't that the whole point of the most recent "Shhh The Secret Podcast" in New Orleans?

Wasn't that the whole point of the most recent "Shhh The Secret Podcast" in New Orleans? Specifically no- The point was, they found something they are not sure about, They are still working on it. so in the meantime treat NO as if it hasn't been found, Exactly the opposite of what Josh claims.

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: The point was, they found something they are not sure about On a good day, George is 90% sure. But in all fairness, that is still not in Josh's league.

maltedfalcon

Erpobdelliforme wrote:: On a good day, George is 90% sure. But in all fairness, that is still not in Josh's league. To quote George on the podcast "I am not comfortable without a key or a full casque to say I found this Casque. We don't know" To quote Josh "seeing as the location didnt change im not sure digging it up would corroborate that or not" which is why I asked what he meant exactly.

JoshCornell

what i mean is that you can clearly dig up a casque without properly accounting for all the clues (based on found casques)...i have accounted for all the clues in nyc...but it didnt change the location from when i made mistakes...so, digging it up at said location will not corroborate you having all clues correct. thats what i meant

AlaskaCasqueFinder

Crystal clear to me. Go dig it up and take a picture. I want a picture. Have an excellent day! Adam

JoshCornell

gonna pay for me to travel to NYC? if so, then happily!

AlaskaCasqueFinder

You don't live in NYC? Darn, me either. Oh well, maybe I'll get there before I lose interest ........ too late. It's been nice checking out the secret, but I want to see a picture of someone finding one to get me re motivated. I wish all of you the best. I just don't have the patience for this stuff. Sorry, Adam. Have an excellent day!

JoshCornell

wouldve had one in charleston if it wasnt gone from the spot.
